Urban Partners adds two veteran directors

Urban Partners, the European investor that manages roughly €25 bn in urban-focused assets, announced the addition of two new directors to its governing board.

Infrastructure leaders join the board

Hilde Tonne assumes a seat after a long career that includes chairing Arup Group and serving as senior advisor at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. She previously led Norway’s transmission system operator Statnett, where she was responsible for overseeing the national electricity grid. Her résumé also features the chief innovation role at Ramboll and an executive-director position at Telenor. In addition to those posts, she has sat on the boards of Danske Bank, Vattenfall, Statkraft and Norway’s Research Council, giving her a breadth of experience across finance, energy and research institutions.

Her appointment brings a depth of knowledge in large-scale infrastructure that complements the firm’s focus on urban development.

Jonathon Bond brings a private-equity pedigree, having co-founded Actis Capital, a firm that specializes in sustainable investments. He later served as chief investment officer at Grosvenor, where he oversaw property-related capital strategies. His career also includes senior positions in development-finance organisations and other private-equity houses, adding a strong financial-engineering perspective to the board.

He highlighted that the directors’ institutional expertise in capital markets, investment strategy and urban infrastructure will strengthen the group’s ability to pursue complex projects.

The move signals a shift toward integrating energy-grid and technology know-how with real-estate initiatives, a blend that could deliver steadier cash flows than traditional property development alone.

Board composition and firm background

The revised governing panel now comprises executive chairman Mikkel Bülul-Lehnsby, vice chairman Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-founder Rasmus Nørgaard, Morten Beck Jørgensen, and the two newcomers described above. Former member Celia Francis continues to contribute in an advisory capacity.

Founded in 2005 under the name Nrep, the company develops, manages and finances a range of assets across Northern Europe. This year marks two decades of operation, during which it has built a portfolio that spans residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, as well as infrastructure such as transport and energy facilities.
