Nexum Group Names Mark Wachter Finance Director
Nexum Group appoints Mark Wachter as Finance Director to lead financial strategy for its €1 billion real estate development pipeline.

Nexum Group AG, a Munich-based residential real estate developer, has appointed Mark Wachter as its new Finance Director. Wachter will lead the creation of a finance department to support the company’s €1 billion development pipeline. This strategic move addresses the critical need for a robust financial infrastructure as Nexum scales its operations, ensuring that growth does not outpace its internal capabilities.
Building a Financial Backbone
Wachter brings 25 years of finance experience to establish and manage Accounting, Controlling, Tax, and Financial Reporting functions. His responsibilities include developing scalable financial processes, systems, and governance structures, along with management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance controlling. Wachter’s expertise spans multiple leadership roles, making him well-equipped to build these functions from the ground up. He will work closely with Sebastian Holl, Nexum’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the broader management team to ensure seamless integration of financial strategies with the company’s growth objectives.
He will also oversee statutory and capital markets-oriented financial reporting and audit processes. This robust financial framework is essential as Nexum’s pipeline reaches billion-euro levels. Holl emphasized, “With Mark Wachter, we are gaining a Finance Director who will consistently drive the development of an efficient and scalable finance organization. His expertise will give us a further boost, particularly in accounting and controlling, taxes, financial reporting, performance management, and project-related cash flow planning.”
A Strategic Hire for a Unique Model
Nexum’s business model distinguishes it from competitors. They acquire residential projects in Germany’s top seven cities with building permits or near approval, execute them through established contractors, and manage sales via their own and partner networks. This approach minimizes risks associated with traditional development, such as permit delays and construction uncertainties, allowing Nexum to focus on efficient execution and timely delivery.

This strategy reduces development risk, capital intensity, and timeline uncertainty, shortening project timelines to 15-30 months. Wachter’s appointment reflects Nexum’s readiness for institutional capital and potential capital markets activity. By professionalizing its finance function, Nexum signals to investors its commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability, key factors in attracting institutional investment.
Nexum’s €1 billion pipeline highlights the need for a professionalized finance function. Data-driven systems are central to their model, from acquisition to sale delivery, emphasizing the importance of scalable processes and governance. These systems enable Nexum to make informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and maintain a competitive edge in a dynamic market.
Positioning for Scale
With Wachter’s expertise, Nexum aims to create a financial architecture that supports its growth ambitions. This move aligns the company with the scale and capital markets access typical of established platforms. By building a finance function capable of handling billion-euro projects, Nexum positions itself as a credible player in the institutional investment environment, capable of competing with larger, more established developers.
As Nexum expands its pipeline, Wachter’s role will ensure its financial infrastructure aligns with development goals. His leadership is key to maintaining this balance as the company grows. Wachter’s focus on institutional-grade reporting and governance will not only enhance Nexum’s operational efficiency but also bolster its reputation as a reliable and forward-thinking developer in Germany’s residential real estate sector.
