Newcore Capital appoints Beatrice Hollond as Chairwoman
Newcore Capital appoints Beatrice Hollond as Chairwoman, bringing four decades of asset management expertise to lead €293M equity growth.

Newcore Capital, a UK investment firm specializing in social infrastructure, has appointed Beatrice Hollond as its new Chairwoman starting September 1, 2026. This decision follows a €293 million increase in equity commitments over the past 18 months, despite difficulties in raising funds for UK real estate. She succeeds Professor Andrew Baum, who left the Chair role in January but continues as a Senior Adviser.
Hollond’s appointment draws on her four decades in asset management, public markets, private wealth, and corporate oversight. Prior to joining Newcore, she chaired the compensation committee at Brown Advisory and currently leads the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. She also serves on the audit and finance committees of the National Gallery. Earlier in her career, she worked over 15 years at Credit Suisse Asset Management, eventually becoming Managing Director of Global Fixed Income after beginning as an Equity Analyst at Morgan Grenfell.
The firm now oversees approximately €878 million in assets and dry powder, reflecting its ability to combine financial returns with measurable social benefits. Its success in attracting capital—even amid broader challenges in UK real estate—demonstrates strong investor confidence in strategies that balance stability with purpose. Hollond’s arrival coincides with Newcore’s expansion into new fund types, including value-add series, a semi-open-ended income fund, and a partnership with Swansea City Council.
Why Newcore’s Purpose-Driven Model Attracts Investors
This leadership change positions Newcore as a key player in social infrastructure investing, an area that has proven more resilient than traditional real estate funds. Hollond’s experience in fixed income and her current roles in governance and philanthropy will strengthen the board’s focus on financial discipline and long-term impact. The transition from Baum ensures continuity during the handover.
“Newcore stands out as a truly purpose-driven firm,” Hollond stated. “Its approach to capital management and proven ability to deliver both social impact and strong financial returns have built a loyal investor base, even in a difficult fundraising environment for UK real estate.” This reflects the firm’s strategy of aligning financial performance with social outcomes, a model gaining appeal among institutional and private investors.
Hugo Llewelyn, Newcore’s CEO, called the appointment a strategic move. “She brings decades of relevant experience, not only as a former global bond market fund manager but also as someone advising and leading major UK charitable and financial institutions.” The emphasis on her dual expertise in markets and governance addresses Newcore’s need for both financial oversight and impact-focused leadership.
While Hollond’s tenure begins next year, her influence may already be shaping the firm’s trajectory. The €293 million in new commitments, across value-add funds, income strategies, and public-private partnerships, shows how social infrastructure can perform well in downturns. For investors seeking stable, impact-aligned exposure, this trend signals a move beyond pure financial metrics toward models balancing profit with societal benefit.
Generational Leadership Shift Secures Stability and Growth
The shift from Baum to Hollond also marks a generational change in leadership. Baum’s transition to Senior Adviser preserves institutional knowledge, while Hollond introduces new perspectives on governance and investor relations. The overlap in their roles during the handover period maintains stability as Newcore grows its assets and expands its fund offerings.
Newcore’s growth, despite sector-wide challenges, highlights a broader trend: social infrastructure funds are increasingly viewed as a hedge against market volatility. The firm’s ability to raise capital in a difficult market suggests rising demand for these strategies. Hollond’s appointment reinforces this position, providing experienced leadership for its next phase.
Newcore’s recent partnership with Swansea City Council further illustrates its commitment to public-private collaborations. The firm’s expansion into semi-open-ended funds and value-add strategies demonstrates its adaptability in a shifting investment environment.
