L&T Secures Two Dubai Contracts for 12-km Corridor
L&T wins two Dubai contracts to build a 12-km Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor, reducing traffic congestion and boosting city connectivity by late 2028.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Transportation Infrastructure has secured two contracts from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to build the 12-kilometer Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor, a key road network linking major Dubai thoroughfares. The initiative, scheduled for completion by late 2028, will include roads, bridges, tunnels, and interchanges aimed at reducing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity across the city.
The first agreement covers construction of a new road connecting Al Khail Road to the extended Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, incorporating bridges and tunnels to improve access to Al Meydan Street and adjacent development zones. The second contract focuses on upgrading Al Meydan Street with a new interchange, a dedicated cycling path, and at-grade roads to support local projects while integrating with Dubai’s expanding cycling infrastructure.

The corridor will run from Sheikh Zayed Road to Emirates Road, designed to handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. Travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road will be cut from 33 minutes to 15 minutes, supporting Dubai’s broader infrastructure modernization efforts in fast-growing districts.
This award reflects a regional trend where Gulf cities are increasing investments in large-scale mobility projects to address population growth and urban sprawl. While past initiatives in the area have often emphasized traffic capacity, this corridor stands out by including a cycling track—a feature rarely incorporated in Dubai’s road upgrades. The decision signals a growing emphasis on balancing vehicle efficiency with sustainable transportation options.
