TajGVK Hotels changes name to Krishna GVK
Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Ltd adopts new identity after ownership shift with focus on luxury hotels.

The corporate name of TajGVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd has been updated to Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Ltd, effective October 30, following the issuance of a revised Certificate of Incorporation by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. This rebranding comes after Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) divested its entire 25.52% stake in the company to the GVK-Bhupal promoter group in December 2025. Additionally, IHCL’s board representatives resigned from the company’s board on December 30, 2025.
Despite exiting its equity position, IHCL will retain operational control of the hotels through long-term management contracts, ensuring continuity under the Taj brand. The name change does not alter the existing branding or day-to-day operations managed by IHCL.
Originally founded in 1995 as a partnership between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL, a Tata Group affiliate, the company now operates exclusively under the leadership of the GVK-Bhupal promoters. The new corporate identity, Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels, shows its focus on premium hospitality services.
Currently, the company operates six hotels across Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, and Mumbai. In Hyderabad, its properties include Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan, and Vivanta Begumpet. The Chennai portfolio features Taj Club House, while Mumbai hosts Taj Chandigarh and Taj Santacruz. Expansion plans include the upcoming Taj Yelahanka in Bengaluru, scheduled to open by late November 2026. This 256-room luxury property will mark the first development under the Krishna GVK name, increasing the company’s total holdings to seven properties.
Ownership and management of the Bengaluru hotel will mirror existing arrangements, with Krishna GVK retaining property ownership while IHCL continues Taj-brand operations. Krishna Bhupal, Joint Managing Director of Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels, highlighted the strategic importance of Taj Yelahanka in strengthening the company’s presence in Bengaluru, a critical market for the hospitality sector. He noted that despite finalizing the hotel’s construction, the company will maintain minimal net debt.
Bhupal emphasized that the company’s financial position enables both organic growth through new developments and potential acquisitions. Based in Hyderabad, Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels remains a leading player in India’s luxury hospitality segment, with all current properties operating under IHCL’s Taj management agreements. The transition signifies a new operational chapter for the GVK-Bhupal family while preserving their established partnership with IHCL for brand management.
