The Gorakhpur Development Authority intends to introduce Gurukul City, a residential township project covering almost 400 acres in New Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The initiative targets a launch during Diwali 2026, with the initial stage spanning roughly 100 acres, contingent on finalizing required procedures.

The GDA board has approved the project’s design, and other pre-launch formalities such as the registration with the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) are in progress.

Project Details

Gurukul City is planned in phases, with the initial 100 acres forming part of the larger 400-acre township. The GDA is targeting a launch around Diwali, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proposed to inaugurate the project.

This residential township is part of the New Gorakhpur initiative. Specifics including plot sizes, costs, allotment methods, and the total count of residential units have not yet been finalized in the public announcements.

Township Location

The proposed township will cover areas around Maniram, Balapar, and Rahmatnagar along the Sonauli Road corridor in northern Gorakhpur. The location places the project near Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, the second battalion of the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force, and several private schools.

Gorakhpur serves as a regional hub for trade, industry, healthcare, and education in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Its schools and transport links also bring in residents from nearby districts and parts of Bihar.

This planned township aims to address the need for structured housing in Gorakhpur. The city has evolved past its traditional function as a trading hub and is now appealing for living due to expanded educational, health, and industrial amenities.

Project Progress

The GDA board has approved the layout for Gurukul City, a significant step toward moving the project forward. The agency is now handling the requirements needed before the township can be formally unveiled, including registering with UP RERA.

The authority has not released full information on costs, allotment, plot types, or the timeline for later phases. These details are key for potential buyers to understand what the first phase includes and when they can apply.
